FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
+ LODGING
+ How old do I have to be to rent a room?
You must be at least 18 years of age to reserve and/or check into a room. All guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent. Government issued identification may be required at check-in for all occupants.
+ What time is check-in?
Rooms will be ready by 4 p.m., however guests may register at the desk as early as noon on the day of their arrival to receive their wristbands and begin using our waterparks.
+ What time is check-out?
Checkout time for all guest rooms is 11 am, however wristbands for our waterparks are still valid through the end. Any incidentals changes/balance due that are not settled prior to the 11am checkout time will be charged to the credit card on file. Late check-outs may incur fees (up to one night's charge). After 11am, departing guests may no longer room charge to their account.
+ Is there a deposit required to reserve a room?
Yes. To guarantee your reservation we require the first nights room rate as a deposit. Please note the same credit card used to book your reservation must be presented by the cardholder along with a valid photo ID at the time of check-in. Any remaining balance must be paid at the time of check-in.
+ How much is the required security deposit when renting a villa, condo, cabin or retreat?
For guests renting our 4 Bedroom River Ridge Cabin, 4 Bedroom Cabin or Retreat, 5 Bedroom Retreat, 5 Bedroom Media Cabin or 5 Bedroom Entertainment Cabin, there is a mandatory deposit of not less than $1000 which is required at the time of check-in.*
For guests renting our Vacation Villas, Frontier Condos, Wilderness on the Lake Condos & Glacier Canyon Lodge Condos, a deposit of $1000 is required for any/all adult and/or non-family group.*
*Deposits may be increased up to $3000 at management’s discretion in events such as bachelor/bachelorette parties, prom parties, fraternity/sorority socials and any activities deemed by management to be non-family oriented in nature.
+ What is your cancellation policy/handling fee?
WILDERNESS HOTEL & GLACIER CANYON LODGE: Canceling your reservation for any reason anytime between making the reservation and 72 hours prior to 4:00pm on the date of arrival, there will be a $30 processing fee. If you cancel less than 72 hours prior to arrival the entire deposit will be forfeited WILDERNESS on the LAKE, VILLAS, CONDOS, CABINS & RETREATS: Canceling your reservation for any reason anytime between making the reservation and 14 days (2 weeks) prior to 4:00pm on the date of arrival, there will be a $30 processing fee. If you cancel less than 14 days (2 weeks) prior to arrival the entire deposit will be forfeited
+ Do you have Wi-Fi?
Yes, wireless internet access is included with your stay. Wi-Fi is available at our main hotel, Glacier Canyon Lodge, Wilderness on the Lake and Golf Cabin units as well as our lobbies.
+ What is the resort fee?
A resort fee is a mandatory daily fee of $17.95 plus tax to cover the costs associated with providing the highest level of service for our guests. This fee provides support for resort wide green initiatives as well as unlimited local and toll-free calls, incoming faxes, daily newspaper, in-room coffee, in-room safes, in-room TV upgrades, pool towel service, life jackets (made available in each waterpark), select daily kid's activities, onsite parking, seasonal access to Wilderland activity and movie area, use of resort fitness centers, and access to Timberland Play Park, a discount coupon book for local attractions and more. This fee is in addition to quoted rate rates. Housekeeping gratuities are not included in this fee and are at the discretion of our guests.
+ Do children stay free?
Children ages 2 & under stay free and do not need to be counted in the total number of guests occupying a unit.
• Guests ages 18 & up should be counted and included in the total as an adult.
• Guests ages 3-17 should be counted and included in the total as a child.
+ Do you allow pets?
Pets of all kinds are not allowed at the Wilderness Resort or any of the resort's ancillary units. However, Pet Retreat, a nearby kennel, would be happy to pamper your pets during your stay. Please contact them directly at (608) 253-6000 for more information.
+ Do you accept checks?
Sorry, no personal checks will be accepted at the time of check-in. Any check payments must be received at least 30 days prior to reservation date. At check-in, a valid credit card and ID must be presented for all Wilderness on the Lake, Villa, Condo, Cabin, Retreat rentals, and condo options at Glacier Canyon Lodge. + How do I file for Tax Exempt with your resort?

+ WATERPARKS
+ Is use of the waterparks included with my stay?
Yes. The waterparks are for each registered guest (not to exceed maximum occupancy for your room type). Your wristbands are valid from the time you check-in until the waterparks close on the day of your check-out.
+ When do the outdoor waterparks open?
The outdoor waterparks are open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, weather permitting.
+ What are the height /weight/age restrictions for the different slides?
We have a convenient listing of all slide and ride restrictions.
+ Are there life jackets available for use in the waterparks?
Yes. There are a limited number of children's life jackets available in all of our waterparks. They are available on a first come, first serve basis. You may bring your own personal life jackets to use but they must be free of any exposed metal or sharp materials. Life jackets are not allowed on any body slides for safety reasons.
+ May we bring our own food in to the waterparks?
No, per the state of Wisconsin Statute, food, drinks and glass are prohibited from being carried in to the pool/waterpark areas; even if these items are contained in coolers.
+ Are towels provided in the waterparks?
Yes, towels are provided at each Waterpark area but you may also bring your own beach towels from home.
+ What is the Swim Safe Program & Where is it in effect?

The Swim Safe Program is a mandatory lifejacket policy for all children under 48 inches and is in effect at Cubby’s Cove indoor & outdoor waterparks at Wilderness on the Lake. Complimentary use of lifejackets, in various sizes, will be made available.  All children under 48 inches using either the indoor or outdoor waterpark will be required to wear a lifejacket at all times while in the parks.


Q:  Why only the pools at Wilderness on the Lake, and not parks at the other resorts?
A:  The proximity of the shallow kiddie pools to the much deeper activity pools in both the indoor and outdoor areas presents a unique scenario as compared to our other waterparks.  This necessitates park-wide enforcement rather than pool specific enforcement.
Q:  My child is a strong swimmer but under 48”.  Can an exception be made?
A:  Unfortunately, to consistently ensure the safety of all of our younger guests, there is no discretion built into this policy.
Q:  Why the change in policy/approach?
A:  Guest safety remains our number one priority and we feel taking this proactive step better ensures the safety of our younger guests.
Q:  My child has their own lifejacket, life vest or personal flotation device (PFD). Can he/she use it?
A:  Yes, your child may use his/her own device provided it is inherently buoyant and coast guard approved. Inflatable devices such as water wings do not meet our criteria and , therefore, will not be allowed in place of a coast guard approved device. Our staff may require your child to put on a resort provided lifejacket if his/her device does not meet our standards.
+ Are there changing rooms?
Yes. Changing rooms are located in Wild West, Klondike Kavern and the Wild WaterDome Indoor Waterparks.
+ Are there lockers?
Yes. There are Lockers are in Klondike, Wild West, WaterDome, and Lost World on the park decks. These lockers are all electronic and can be paid for with exact cash or credit. Lake Wilderness outdoor waterpark and Cubby's Cove at Wilderness on The Lake have lockers but guests will need to provide their own locks.
+ May I purchase a day pass to your waterparks and attractions?
No. All of our waterparks and attractions are reserved exclusively for our guests.* Wild Rock Golf Course, The Woods Executive Golf Course and the Canyon Zip Line Tours are open to the public. *Our overnight guests include patrons residing within the Wilderness Territory® as well as a limited number of other accommodations with which the Territory has business arrangements, such as Field's Park Motel.

+ Where can I find the Buffet Restaurant?

+ Where can I purchase groceries?
  • O.P.'s Marketplace, adjacent to the Wild West Lobby
  • Trapper's Outpost, adjacent to the Wilderness on the Lake Lobby
  • The Bean Bodega, located on Level 4 of Glacier Canyon Lodge.
+ Do you have a Fitness Center at your resort?
Yes.
  • The HOTEL Fitness Center is located on the 3rd floor above the Wild West Lobby.
  • The GLACIER CANYON LODGE Fitness Center is located on the 3rd floor by Entrance 2.
  • The WILDERNESS ON THE LAKE Fitness Center is located on the 3rd floor just off of the lobby elevator/stairwell.
+ Do you have guest laundry facilities available?
Yes. Coin-operated machines are located throughout the Wilderness Hotel and Glacier Canyon Lodge.
+ Where is the Conference Center located?
The Glacier Canyon Conference Center is attached to Glacier Canyon Lodge.

+ Where can I watch the game?
Survivor's Bar and Grille in the Wild WaterDome and The Thirsty Buffalo Saloon in the Wild West Waterpark both have numerous flat screen TVs available to view sports games.
+ OTHER
+ Where do I park and is there a fee?
As a guest of the resort, there is not an additional fee for parking. Parking passes are issued at time of check-in and we ask that you park in the lot of the resort/lodge in which your are staying. Shuttle bus service is available to get you around the Wilderness Territory.
+ How do I get a shuttle bus?
Please Dial “0” on the courtesy phone for shuttle service to your desired location. Shuttles can be taken to or from anywhere in Wilderness Territory including Wild Rock Golf Club, Monk's, Field’s Steakhouse & Sarento’s. During peak times there may be a longer than normal wait for shuttle buses. Wheelchair Accessible bus is available upon request.
+ How do I check voice mail when staying at the resort?
Dial #1 and follow the voice prompts.
+ What if I need to send a fax or make copies of documents?
Just stop at any of the Guest Services desks or dial "0" for details.
+ Can I bring my own grill?
Due to the high risk of fire, use of your own grill is prohibited on Wilderness Resort property.
  • We have a limited number of permanent/charcoal grills available at WilderLand Park Activity Area, near Villa # 101 and by Glacier Canyon Lodge, near the walking trail entrance. (Bring your own charcoal.)
  • A limited number of grills are also available at Wilderness on the Lake just off the pool decks.
  • All Cabins & Retreats have their own grills on their decks.

- WEDDING
+ Do you offer outdoor ceremony sites?
Yes, each of our receptions venues has it's own outdoor ceremony site. Click here to view venues.
+ Can we set up a block of rooms at a discounted rate for our wedding guests?
Yes. Rates are dependent on the date of your wedding event.
+ Do you offer a complimentary room for the bride and groom?
Yes, we offer a complimentary room for the evening of your wedding. Additional nights available at the group rates. Talk to your Wedding Sales Manager for additional information on the specifics of this offer.
+ Does the cake have to come from a licensed facility?
Yes, a licensed baker must be utilized, and a copy of the license must be presented to be kept on file.
+ Is there a charge for bartenders?
There is no set bartender fee. Sales must generate at least $75 per hour, per bartender and a two hour minimum.
+ What is the service charge and what is the tax rate?
The service charge is 19% and tax rate is 6.75%.
+ Do you offer a tasting to try the food?
Yes. Twice a year we have a tasting event for contracted weddings. Contact your wedding coordinator for dates and availability.

+ May we bring our own food and beverages to the Conference Center?
No outside food or beverage are allowed within the Conference Center. Please contact your Event Detailer for questions on tradeshow sample restrictions.

Freight deliveries must be arranged with Glacier Canyon in advance. No unscheduled freight deliveries/pick-ups will be accepted. Please ship via FedEx or UPS to the following address:

No unfortunately this is not possible. Please call reservations at 800-867-9453 and reference your group number/name to our reservations team.
+ Are there parking fees?
We offer complimentary self-parking.
+ Do any of your rooms have kitchens?
Yes, we have several options that include kitchen amenities. Deluxe rooms, villas, condos and cabins are the options to consider. Click here to view lodging options.
+ Do you offer state rates, and what are the requirements?
State rates are negotiated for larger groups and must be approved by Group Sales in advance. Individuals must be traveling on state business and part of a group in order to qualify. State rates are not available on weekends, peak seasons or holiday periods.
+ Where is the closest airport?
The Dane County Regional Airport, located in Madison, is approximately 45 miles from Wisconsin Dells.
+ What time is check-in?
Check-in is at 4:00 p.m. however guests may register as early as 11 a.m. on the day of their arrival and receive their wristbands for admission to our waterparks.  
+ What time is check-out?
Check-out time is 11 a.m. Any balance due will be charged to the credit card on file. Late check-outs may incur fees (up to one night's charge).
